Gary Valentine was one of the founding members of Blondie, having joined the band as bassist in April when Fred Smith left to join Television following Richard Hell's departure. He wrote the music and lyrics to the band's first single, "X-Offender", and popularized the band's sixties-retro look. In he left the group to form his own band and was replaced by Nigel Harrison, just as Blondie were starting to gain recognition.

After Blondie, Gary moved to L. Shortly after this he formed The Know, with Joel Turrisi and Richard d'Andrea who were the first band to play the infamous Madame Wong's Chinese restaurant-turned-new wave venue.

Valentine's claim to this distinction has been verified by several eye-witnesses. After a year and a half Joel left the band and was replaced by drummer John McGarvey. Failing to secure an album deal, he disbanded the Know and in played guitar with Iggy Pop. Inafter moving to London, he was asked to participate in the Blondie re-union, and in November of that year he recorded one of his songs, "Amor Fati," with Blondie, for their 'come back' album.

In he formed Fire Escape with violinist Ruth Jones and performed songs he had written for the Blondie reunion album they had not been used due to the band ultimately excluding him from the recording process and the reunion tour.

Mae Ddoe Yn Ddoe by Y Cyrff is very often regarded as the band's greatest hits collection as it includes tracks that were recorded from until they split up.

It was released on CD and tape on the Ankst label. The schoolfriends were bonded by a love of The Clash and a raw enthusiasm. Being school age, a couple of gigs preceded a line-up change that meant Roberts became the de facto frontman. Crahan explained, "After weeks of going all over the world and playing some of the biggest shows of my career [ with his other band Slipknot ], and now being in the home stretch on completing the Dirty Little Rabbits debut album, I'm just mentally and physically drained.

Dirty Little Rabbits' musical style is considerably different from Crahan's most notable band, Slipknot.

Crahan explained in an interview in that Wasting Time - The Little Rabbits - Dedalus (CD is an "alternative person in art and music" and that he didn't grow up obsessed with metal.

He describes Dirty Little Rabbits as the band he's been waiting his whole life for. He made a particular point about the fact that they have a female singer and that he's always wanted to be in a band with a female singer because he wants to "represent the whole world, male and female. Quite a strange thing to do, especially back then and especially for such a big label. But totally cool. They were giving them away for free. In fact they had copies scattered all around the club. And it's not a cheap-o, either. The whole thing comes in a heavy, pink vinyl silkscreened sleeve. The album itself has a nice cover with a cartoon by a New Yorker magazine cartoonist.

Inside is a nice inner sleeve I've included photos in the file as well as lyric sheet and various sundry items like photos, random porno ads, a Bugs Bunny birthday invitation addressed to "Dear Fan" Place: Your mouth I'm coming Wasting Time - The Little Rabbits - Dedalus (CD, etc.

Quite a package, indeed. The recording itself is all 1 take live-to-DAT in the studio, completely improvised music and lyrics.

The production is real good. There's some hilarious spoken bits as well, particularly Eg The Poet's opening piece. The band were are? I like 'em. If you don't know them, you should check this out. A note on the album's title: The only thing on the record and packaging itself is on the spine where it says "The Bunny Brains - Bunny Brains".

But anybody could have done that. Also, they alternately write their name as Bunnybrains in the liner notes. Anyway whatever. It's the fuckin Matador album. Tuesday, February 10, The Dead C. Tour 12". This past summer I spent about six months in New Zealand, as followers of this blog well know. They were always my favorite noise-rockers, always providing interesting, challenging and yes, fun listening. And I knew that unlike many of my other favorite Kiwi bands, they were still active. So imagine my surprise and dismay when I tried to find live dates online Yes, at the very time I was in their country, they were in mine.

On a very Wasting Time - The Little Rabbits - Dedalus (CD U. So I pondered the irony of this a bit, checked the dates, decided that yes, were I home I would travel to San Francisco to see them. I also saw they were playing my old home-town of Philadelphia home of their label Siltbreeze so I emailed an old friend and implored her to go see them.

She told me they were playing the day after Wire at the same place and yes, she would be at both. I was green with envy at the prospect of her seeing two of my favorite bands back-to-back The Residents also played earlier in the weekbut happy for her. After the show she emailed that she had gotten this tour-only 12" that you are probably downloading at this very minute. When I Wasting Time - The Little Rabbits - Dedalus (CD to the States, this was waiting for me. It's two long-ish tracks, both live I think Side 2 for sure.

Side 1 is the more rock-oriented, while Side 2 is more of a tone piece. It came in a plain black sleeve, clear vinyl. The record plays at 45 from the inside by the label out to the edge. Not really the place you want to start if you are unfamiliar with the band, but a must-have for fans. I like it a lot.
